Mining for stars
EPISODE TWO
It’s been a while since the last episode, so life must be pretty damn good.
On rainy mid-week nights, when you are feeling just a little inexplicably shit, a few things stand out to warm the soul:
- Riding home at dusk, behind a golden sunset, and hitting the steps of home just before the storm arrives
- Ice cold soda stream – no flavours please, (although we have those too). The soda stream is the best appliance in our kitchen, by far. Added environmental smugness points.
Tone’s hummus – the man loves dips of all continental origins. The latest flavour creation is cumin and green specks of fresh coriander. Last week it was chilli. The coffee connoisseur has turned his palette to solids – ‘needs more lemon, not enough tahini’. Delicious. - The epicurious iphone app – for reducing recipe-anxiety, and for turning into a step by step preparation guide when I turn my phone on its side… genius.
South Indian vegetarian curry, featuring kaffir lime leaves from the garden, and veggies delivered weekly to our door.- A new book – Moby Dick. The whale finally surfaced and got sexy, thanks to a captivating interview we heard on one of many runs to Sydney over Easter. Radio National’s The Book Show, Philip Hoare’s love song to whales. Next stop, his book, Leviathan.
- News from tumblr that Georgina had her baby! I don’t know this girl from a bar of soap, but I have been waiting waiting waiting (with the rest of her followers) for this baby to arrive. I know, it’s weird, but I was really excited.
- New sheets. No explanation necessary.
- And my mum and dad home
tomorrowtoday!
Hello Friday. I’ve missed you.
