Mining for stars

EPISODE ONE

Can I poach a really good idea from a really good friend?

She of the food blog’s recent life mission is to keep a diary of the best things that happen each day. A diary to hold to the world. One to keep the gremlins at bay.

In these grey days, and with more grey ahead, this sounds like the best idea since nutella toast.

The gremlins kept at bay don’t only belong to her. In generously sharing her list, I am reminded of a few moments (and then a few more) that would have been buried under mountains of day-to-day crap had she not unwittingly unearthed them.

So in a pushy age, I am pushing. But hopefully this is something worth having.

A weekly digest. Episode one:

  • Catching the lift in our apartment block with Benita Collings of Play School fame. She has less hair now, but she smiled at us when we were still half way across the car park from her. God I wish I’d told her how much I loved her! But as it’s my apartment I may see her again. That would be hard to recover from.
  • The Friday night toko/pizza e birra combo – it’s an institution. Not so much for the food, but for the people…
  • 4pm Saturday: maccas moment involving Stanmore drive through, Ally and Katie and a car park. So good that they should have made an ad out of us.
  • Recreating the mushroom stir fry, cooked by China Doll’s Frank Shek on Masterchef, in our very own little apartment. Improved Monday night no end.
  • And the iphone arrival – that candy striped bag was a winning move vodafone! Let alone what was actually inside!

Thanks Tors!
